CEASE

Overview

CEASE exists to create a world free from sexual exploitation by exposing and dismantling the cultural and commercial forces that drive it. Through research, advocacy, campaigning and policy influence, the charity works to challenge the systems that enable exploitation while amplifying the voices of survivors and building a movement for lasting change. The annual report needed to communicate both the scale of this mission and the progress made towards it, while inspiring supporters, partners and stakeholders to engage with CEASE's vision for a safer and more equitable future.

Challenge

Previous reports had successfully communicated information but lacked the visual impact needed to reflect the ambition and urgency of CEASE's work. The challenge was to create a report that remained aligned with the existing brand while introducing a more engaging and contemporary design approach. It was also important to navigate existing concerns around brand colour usage ahead of a future refresh, maintain accessibility standards, and move beyond the sector's often predictable visual language. Rather than focusing solely on the realities of exploitation, the report needed to communicate hope, progress and the future CEASE is working to create.

Outcome

The resulting concept presents CEASE's work through a more dynamic and aspirational lens. Enhanced layouts, thoughtful use of iconography, interactive imagery and refined colour application create a publication that feels more engaging and visually distinctive while remaining recognisably CEASE. The photography direction shifts the focus from portraying exploitation to illustrating its absence - showing people of different ages, backgrounds and identities living freely, safely and without fear. This approach helps bring CEASE's ultimate vision to life, creating a stronger emotional connection with readers and reinforcing the charity's commitment to building a world without sexual exploitation.

We wanted our annual report to better reflect the ambition, energy and impact of CEASE's work, while staying true to our mission and existing brand. The creative approach achieved exactly that. The design transformed what could have been a traditional charity report into something engaging, accessible and visually compelling, without losing sight of the seriousness of the issues we address.

What particularly stood out was the ability to capture our vision of a world free from sexual exploitation through positive, aspirational imagery rather than relying on the expected sector clichés. The result was a report that not only communicated our achievements and impact clearly, but also brought our long-term mission to life in a way that resonated with our supporters, partners and stakeholders.
